Comparison between Synthetic and Biodegradable Polymer Matrices on the Development of Quartzite Waste-Based Artificial Stone

The development of artificial stone from the agglutination polymeric resin using industrial wastes can be a viable alternative technical, economic, and sustainable point view. main objective present work was to evaluate physical, mechanical, structural properties stones based on quartzite waste added into synthetic, epoxy, or biodegradable polyurethane polymer matrix. Artificial plates were produced through vacuum vibration compression method, 85 wt% waste. material manufactured under following conditions: 3 MPa compaction pressure 90 80 °C curing temperature. samples characterized physical mechanical parameters microstructure properties. As result, developed obtained ≤0.16% water absorption, ≤0.38% porosity, 26.96 10.7 flexural strength (epoxy resin, respectively). A wear test established both with epoxy (AS-EP) vegetable (AS-PU) high traffic materials. Hard body impact resistance classified AS-EP as low height AS-PU very material. petrographic slides analysis revealed that has best load distribution. We concluded feasibility manufacturing stone, which would minimize environmental impacts caused by this disposal. production rock shows potential it also helps reduce impacts.
